In 1948 he and his family resided to
South Africa under difficult circumstances. His father Gino was an Italian
prisoner of war held in South Africa. In South Africa Titta studied informally
under another well known artist WG Wiles.
Fasciotti has participated in numerous
group exhibitions throughout the country, Italy, Australia, the USA and the UK
and has staged 31 solo exhibitions in SA.
He was a painter of landscapes, still
life, seascapes and figures. His use of colour was often striking and rich and
he contrasted dark shadows with brilliant sunshine. He brought a freshness and
spontaneity to his paintings. In his Karoo landscapes he captured the peace and
quiet countryside skilfully.
He saw it as duty to society to bring
pleasure through his works and he wanted to light a little candle in the heart
with his paintings.
Fasciotti also signed his paintings with
the pseudonym, T. Scotty. According to Artistico in George there is a distinct
difference in market value between a painting signed Titta Fasciotti and
T.Scotty.
A Fasciotti oil painting of 34,5cmx50cm
sold in August 2008 at Stephan Welz Auctioneers for R89 600.
Serious art collectors will do well by
adding a Titta Fasciotti to their art collection
